DAY 10 | EMBARRASSMENT

via

I think the most embarrassing thing I've done was on my first day of work at my current job.
It was after lunch and I'd done everything I had to.
I replied to an email from my Mum saying that there wasn't that much to do and I was a bit bored trying to find work to complete.
Only, I didn't reply, I sent it to my boss.
True story.

DAY 9 | MOMENT

A moment from the weekend.
Stopping to stare at the colours of the sunset.
If only iPhones could capture every colour.

DAY 8 | ADVICE

Quality over quantity.
It takes a while to realise, but when you do it saves a lot of money and heartache.
While a $30 handbag is cheap, a $300 handbag lasts for years of everyday use.
For items that I know I'll have forever, bags, jewellery, watches, coats, I now try and save for a great quality one.
But there is no denying that I'm not going to spend $200 on a 'trendy' necklace I'll wear 4 times - that's where lovissa comes in ;)

DAY 7 | FEAR

Ask my family and they'll tell you what I'm most afraid of...spiders.
Well, technically not all spiders, only huntsman.
If you don't know what a huntsman is, be blessed and do not google.

These terrifying arachnids get as big as your hand and can run, jump and probably swim.
The most scary thing I've ever heard was following a conversation my Mum had with the pest control people.
She asked about spraying for spiders to get prevent any huntsman from entering, the lady's response?
"We can't spray for huntsman because they don't have webs, the have nests."
Is that the most sickening thing you've ever heard? A huntsman NEST.

Huntsman sightings at our place generally involve me crying on the kitchen bench while Mum and sister attempt to capture it with the vac, brooms, spray and towels.

All I can say is, when I move out of home I'm getting to know my neighbours super well so they will rescue me if there is a huntsman sighting.

*As if I'm putting a spider picture on here...you get my favourite snappies instead.

DAY 6 | WHAT DO YOU DO?

Whenever you say, "I'm studying to be a teacher", people immediately say, "oh wow, such great holidays."
Really? That's what you really think? You think I studied for four years to work with kids everyday for the holidays?
Obviously you've never tried to wrangle a classroom of 7 year olds into a circle to talk about philosophy...
Sometimes having everyone silent at the same time feels like an achievement and seeing that boy who never writes, writing in a journal makes your week.

This video is one of my favourites, and I wish I could say it to everyone who ever said it was an awesome job because you only work from 9am to 3pm.

Taylor Mali

I'm not quite a teacher yet but when I get that registration, that's what I'll say.

DAY 5 | LOVE & DEVOTION

Express your love and devotion for a friend.
Obviously it's my bestie, the one I send movie quotes to and receive movie quotes in return.
"I'm gonna finish him like a cheesecake" being a recent favourite.

I read that true friendship isn't about being inseparable, it's about being separated and nothing changes.

Never has a truer word been spoken.

Although we are separated by a short, expensive flight, it never matters.
She's the one who's ALWAYS on my side, whatever the side my be.

And she sends me cards like this-

-obviously my other friendship half.

DAY 4 | FAVOURITE QUOTE

image
When I was at school I was wishing to be 17 so I could drive.
When I could drive I wished I was 18 so I would be an adult.
When I was an adult I couldn't wait to start uni
When I started uni I couldn't wait to finish uni.
I wished I was 21, then life would start.
And then I realised this all was life. It was happening while I was waiting for it.
No age or stage was the beginning, it just was.
I had to start living it, and I did.

3.5.13

DAY 3 | UNCOMFORTABLE

What makes me uncomfortable?

People being rude to someone in front of me.
I had a fellow classmate go off at a tutor last week and man was I totally uncomfortable. In these situations, I'm so grateful for phones because all of a sudden it is vitally important that I check something down here in my bag...

Watching 'awkward' movie scenes with people.
I'm definitely rummaging through my bag for a dropped malteeser or ducking into the kitchen for a drink.

Competing.
I'm so competitive that I don't like competing unless I'm guaranteed a win.
I'm also ok competing if I'm guaranteed a loss. Go figure. It's those bits in between that get me.

People asking me why I don't drink.
Because there's no reason, I just don't. Never got into it. My friends don't really, Mum doesn't really so it's just never been a thing for me. Plus, I'd much rather spend that money on jewellery.

Killing bugs bigger than a mozzie.
I had to go inside when Mum was hunting down the grasshopper eating our tomato bush. Can't handle it.

Returning clothes.
Only in the last year have I been able to return clothes to shops.
I always feel like I'm robbing them of their income by taking it back.
Only lately has the convenience of buying something in 3 sizes and returning the unlucky ones trumped the awkwardness of trying stuff on in change rooms when you're tired, hungry and cranky.
